Anna Allocco

For years, I taught Sociology at Southern Maine Community College.  I love teaching however I left SMCC to pursue work that is aligned with insights provided by New Biology, Quantum Physics and a host of spiritual traditions. Those fields of knowledge reveal human beings are much more than the biologically predetermined bags of flesh and bones, piloted around by brains, that we think we are. Now, I am a full-time Yoga Teacher at Portland Power Yoga with a Reconnective Healing Practice based in Portland (see, www.mainereconnectivehealing.com for more information).  

 When I first joined First Parish, my ministry was with the Religious Education program - serving as the youth group facilitator.  Working with RE gave me a chance to know many families well and I am so grateful for that time.  While working with the youth group, Ashley asked me if I would like to join the Governing Board as Vice President. Now in my second year as Vice President, my ministry is inspired by the possibility of members and friends of First Parish encouraging one another in our personal and collective spiritual growth.  I see such growth acting like a magnet, connecting everybody in and around First Parish to the joy of being alive!
