Bette is a third generation Unitarian Universalist.  Originally from Dorchester, Massachusetts, she now lives with her husband, Steve, in Saco and owns an alteration and consignment business in Scarborough.  Bette's children, Anna now 20 years old and James now 18 years old, grew up at First Parish.

Bette began volunteering in the nursery and preschool programs at First Parish in 1991 when she became a member.  Since that time she has chaired four committees, been a Governing Board member several times, been Governing Board president, and continues to care for the costumes of the annual Pageant of the Nativity and lead history tours of the First Parish Meeting House.
