Stewardship

As a community, we appreciate our role as stewards of First Parish: its legacy, its historic structure, its current programs, and the promise of what lies ahead. By sharing personal commitments of our time, talent, and treasure we come together to fulfill the ministry of the congregation. To many, this understanding of stewardship and giving is a joyous act of worship.

First Parish is blessed that members of previous generations created a Trust that supports the costs of maintaining the building separate from our annual operating budget. The current operating budget of $238,000 efficiently covers the salaries of our minister and staff, programmatic and administrative expenses, and our Fair Share contributions to the Unitarian Universalist Association. Importantly, over two-thirds of the income to support First Parish comes from the financial commitments made by members as part of the Annual Stewardship Campaign. The Finance Council provides overall oversight for the annual campaign, preparation of the annual budget, the duties of the Expense and Income Treasurers, and fundraising activities.
